| GMC Srinagar Condoles Demise of Prof. Dr. Hamid Ali Durrani | | | | | Srinagar, Dec 19 Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar has expressed its deepest condolences on the sad demise of Prof. Dr. Hamid Ali Durrani, former Professor of Medicine and a pioneer of Gastroenterology in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a condolence message, Principal and Dean, GMC Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan, described Prof. Durrani as a towering figure in the medical fraternity, stating that his passing has created an irreparable void. At Srinagar International Airport, seven flights were cancelled and twelve were delayed due to poor visibility and adverse weather at departure points including Delhi, Amritsar and Kolkata. At Jammu Airport, five flights were cancelled and eight delayed, bringing the total to 12 cancellations and 18 delays across both airports,” officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer .... | | | | | | 3 IPS officers of J&K promoted to IGP rank | | | | | Jammu, Dec 19: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday ordered the promotion of three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of AGMUT cadre, posted in Jammu and Kashmir, to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) grade; eight officers to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), and elevation of nine officers to the Selection Grade.
They were among those IPS officers of AGMUT cadre, whose promotion was ordered by the Screening Committee of the MHA through three different orders.
As per the MHA order, IPS officers of the 2008 batch posted in J&K – Tejinder Singh, DIG Rajouri-Poonch range; Abdul Jabbar presently inducted in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at DIG level, and Udayabhaskar Billa, presently on central deputation as DIG, CRPF, have been promoted to the IGP.

According to an order, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has been promoted to Super Time Scale notionally with effect from January 1, 2025, and actual from the date of assumption of charge.
As per the order, Prasanna Ramaswamy, Ram Niwas Sharma, Talat Parvez Rohella, Rukshana Gani, Rehana Batul, and Mir Tariq Ali have been promoted to Super Time Scale with effect from January 1, 2026, or the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later.
The MHA has also ordered promotion of 14 IAS officers of the J&K segment of AGMUT cadre to Selection Grade.
