3 IPS officers of J&K promoted to IGP rank
 
Jammu, Dec 19: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday ordered the promotion of three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of AGMUT cadre, posted in Jammu and Kashmir, to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) grade; eight officers to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), and elevation of nine officers to the Selection Grade.
They were among those IPS officers of AGMUT cadre, whose promotion was ordered by the Screening Committee of the MHA through three different orders.
As per the MHA order, IPS officers of the 2008 batch posted in J&K – Tejinder Singh, DIG Rajouri-Poonch range; Abdul Jabbar presently inducted in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at DIG level, and Udayabhaskar Billa, presently on central deputation as DIG, CRPF, have been promoted to the IGP.
Out of them, Singh is among four IPS officers of AGMUT cadre, currently posted in the cadre, promoted by the MHA in pursuance to the recommendations of the Screening Committee in its meeting held on December 8, 2025, to the IGP grade (Level 14 in the pay matrix) with effect from January 1, 2026 or from the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later.

Abdul Jabbar and Udayabhaskar Billa are among 6 IPS officers of AGMUT cadre, currently posted on central Deputation, who have been granted proforma promotion to the IGP grade (Level 14 in the pay matrix) with effect from January 1, 2026 and on actual basis with effect from the date of assumption of charge of their immediate juniors in the cadre, as per MHA order.

Through a separate order, the MHA ordered the promotion of eight IPS officers of AGMUT cadre of 2012 batch, presently deployed in J&K, to the DIGP grade (Level 13-A in the pay matrix) with effect from January 1, 2026.

They included Sargun Shukla, Sandeep Wazir, Anita Sharma, Jatinder Singh Johar, Swarn Singh Kotwal, Zahid Nasim Manhas, Koshal Kumar Sharma, while Sandeep Choudhary, presently on central deputation, has been accorded proforma promotion.

They were among 24 IPS officers of AGMUT cadre promoted to DIGP grade. Besides, nine IPS officers of the J&K segment of AGMUT cadre of 2013 batch figured in the list of 24 officers whose promotion was ordered by the MHA, in pursuance of the recommendations of its Screening Committee in its meeting held on December 8, 2025, to the Selection Grade (Level 13 in the pay matrix) with effect from January 1, 2026.

They included Ashish Kumar Mishra, Nagpure Amod Ashok, Gurinderpal Singh, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Bakar Hussain Samoon, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Ranjit Singh Samyal, and Muhammad Yaseen Kichloo while Chandan Kohli, currently on central deputation, has been granted proforma promotion.

Through a separate order, the MHA has promoted seven IPS officers from J&K segment of the AGMUT cadre to the Junior Administrative Grade (JAG) in Level 12 of the pay matrix with effect from January 1, 2026.

These officers included Bisma Qazi, Tanushree, Sahil Sarangal, Anayat Ali Choudhary, Nikhil Borkar, Mohita Sharma and Hareesh H P.

They were among 14 officers of AGMUT cadre promoted to JAG by the MHA.
