| White-collar terror must be crushed before it mutates further: Raman Suri | | | | Jammu, November 17: Terming the rise of white-collar terrorism as an extremely dangerous trend that must be uprooted before it corrodes institutions and endangers national security, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) executive member Raman Suri said that revelations emerging from the ongoing investigation into the recent Delhi bombings are shocking and a decisive crackdown on this network is a must before this trend mutates. He said that even the Chief Justice of India has repeatedly emphasised the need to identify and dismantle sophisticated, non-traditional terror ecosystems operating under professional covers.
Raman Suri said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in close coordination with other security agencies, launched a focused operation soon after the Delhi incident to dismantle the white-collar terror module believed to be linked to the blast. The late-night action by the Counter Intelligence Wing, which led to the detention of a female doctor for questioning, sheds light on a deeply disturbing shift. “Doctors who are symbols of trust, compassion and life being implicated in terror networks is a shameful and alarming development. Their involvement has the potential to permanently taint the medical profession,” Suri said.
He recalled that after the abrogation of Article 370, the government had launched an unprecedented and comprehensive campaign to eliminate terrorism from Jammu & Kashmir. Those efforts ushered in a new era of peace, stability and prosperity. Even though tourism suffered a setback after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Kashmir has been steadily returning to normalcy. “Yet, it is ironic and unfortunate that terrorist organisations remain relentless in their attempts to destabilise the region. The shift in tactics from guns to white-collar infiltration is a signal that the threat is evolving, and our response must evolve faster,” Suri added.
Raman Suri emphasised that a comprehensive nationwide campaign is now essential to root out these covert networks. He urged that medical colleges and institutions must adopt zero tolerance towards radical elements and ensure that anyone promoting extremist narratives is identified and prosecuted. “People trust doctors with their lives, and it is unacceptable that a few misguided individuals misuse their professional authority to support terrorism,” he said.
Welcoming the current operation, Suri asserted that this decisive campaign to dismantle the newly emerged module is a step in the right direction and will greatly assist in uprooting the terrorist ecosystem in its entirety. He reiterated that India cannot allow terror to mutate into forms that exploit professional spaces, institutions, and public trust.
He said that the efforts of agencies including the police, intelligence units, and security forces are laudable and they must continue their coordinated action until every strand of this network is identified and neutralised. He said that a step initiated to identify posters and their suppliers in Kashmir led cops to Faridabad and now the agencies must also find out from which printing press these posters were printed so that the entire terror module is exposed and punished as per the law of land. | | | | |
