| Cop Killed After Service Rifle Goes Off Accidentally in Bandipora | | | | Bandipora, Oct 17: A 32-year-old policeman from Bandipora district lost his life on Friday after his service rifle went off accidentally in the Police lines in Bandipora.
The deceased has been identified as Arfeen Lone, son of Darwesh Lone, a resident of Malangam Tulail in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
According to officials, the tragic incident occurred when the rifle of the on-duty cop went off accidentally, resulting in critical injuries. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police have registered a case in this regard, and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the incident.
