Dehradun: 61 Children Missing In Six Weeks, Majority Girls Aged 10-17; District On Alert As Cases Rise

DEHRADUN SEPTEMBER 14:-
At least 61 children have gone missing in the district over the past one and a half months, raising serious concern among families and authorities. Police data shows all missing children are between 10 and 17 years of age, with a majority of cases involving girls, according to the Jagran report.
Many of the missing children were students who left for school in the morning but never returned home in the evening. While some have been traced, the consistent rise in cases has become a major challenge for the police.
nvestigations reveal that some children went missing after family disputes or while out on strolls, while others were lured through social media platforms. Police admit that online interactions are playing a significant role in such cases.
Security concerns are further heightened as miscreants are frequently seen outside schools during vacation hours, often roaming in groups on bikes. The lack of regular patrolling has also led to frequent altercations near school premises.
ugust 22: Selaqui police rescued three girls from Delhi who had left home after a dispute and were planning to travel further to Mumbai.
Recent Incident: In Raipur, police traced one of two missing teenagers who was allegedly lured through Instagram by a youth from Haridwar. The accused brought the teenager to Dehradun, where police successfully recovered her.
Authorities continue to intensify search operations, but the rising number of missing children remains a pressing concern for the district.
