Kulgam encounter: Two militants killed, operation on | | | Srinagar, June 24:(Agencies) Two militants havd been killed so far in the ongoing encounter which broke our earlier between goverment forces and militants Cheedar area of Qaimoh of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. A senior Police official told GNS that two militants have been killed and there is possibility of third militant hiding in the house and operation is on, he said. Meanwhile identification of militants is yet to be ascertained. While confirm the details the media report said that Two militants were killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Chidder village of Qaimoh tehsil in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Reports said that army, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF launched a search operation in the area following “specific’ inputs about the presence of militants As soon as the forces approached the suspected spot, the militants hiding in a residential house opened fire on them. The forces retaliated, triggering a gunfight. An army spokesman said that two militants were killed in the gunfight. He said their bodies are yet to be retried. “Third militant is still trapped inside,” he said, adding that the identities of the slain are yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, massive clashes broke out between the government forces and protesters near the site of the gunfight. Reports further said that youth took to streets and clashed with the forces deployed in the area to disrupt the anti-militant operation. The forces responded by firing tear gas, triggering further clashes.
