Wreckage of missing AN-32 aircraft found

Wreckage of the missing AN-32 aircraft spotted 16 Kilometre North of Lipo in Arunachal Pradesh; Wreckage found at an approximate elevation of 12000 feet by the Indian Air Force's Mi-17 Helicopter undertaking search in the expanded search zone.

The Indian Air Force has spotted the wreckage of the missing AN 32 aircraft. Official sources said that Mi- 17 of the Indian Air Force located the wreckage at West Sinag district in Arunachal Pradesh.

The aircraft with 13 people lost its contact on last Monday on it's way to Mechuka from Jorhat.

Massive search and rescue operation was launched by the army, navy and air force to locate the aircraft. The Indian Air Force in a Tweet has confirmed the news.

The Russian-origin AN-32 aircraft lost contact on the afternoon of June 3 after taking off from Jorhat for Menchuka advanced landing ground near the border with China.

A total of 8 aircrew and 5 passengers were on board the aircraft.

The IAF launched a massive operation to trace the missing aircraft but the search was badly hit by poor weather conditions.

The assets deployed for the operation included Sukhoi-30 aircraft in addition to a fleet of C-130J and AN-32 planes and Mi-17 and ALH helicopters.

The ground forces included troops from the Army, Indo Tibetan Border Police and state police.
