Georgian aircraft intercepted by IAF
 
New Delhi May 10(Agencies)
A non-scheduled AN-12 plane flying from Georgia's Tblisi via Pakistan's Karachi was forced to land in Jaipur after it failed to respond to radio messages when detected entering Indian airspace on an unauthorised route.

Sources said that the aircraft entered Indian air space in the North Gujarat sector at 3.15 pm.

It was not following authorised Air Traffic Services route.

It was also not responding to radio calls from Indian controlling agencies.

ATS routes in the area remain closed due to current geopolitical situation.

Air defence interceptor was scrambled towards unknown aircraft. Aircraft identified as Georgian AN-12 on visual contact.

Aircraft didn't respond on international distress frequency nor to visual signals. Aircraft responded when challenged & forced to land at Jaipur for investigation
