Last day of Budget Session; CAG Report on Rafale Deal tabled in Parliament

Day of another victory for the government; CAG report on Rafale Deal tabled in Both the Houses of Parliament; Report reveals, NDA'S 2016 Rafale deal 2.86% cheaper than that of UPA'S proposed 2007 deal; 17% saved on enhancements.

Tuesday was the last day of the Budget Session which was also the last session of the 16th Lok Sabha and on the final day, the CAG report on the Rafale deal was tabled in the Rajya Sabha. In the Rajya Sabha, Samajwadi Party and TMC Members raised slogans, and in the midst of the uproar, the house saw repeated adjournments. Finally Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine dine.

While, in the Lok Sabha, due to the uproar created by Samajwadi Party and TMC members, the House saw repeated adjournments.. As soon as the House met at 12 noon, the CAG Report was tabled in Lok Sabha as well. The CAG report titled "Capital Acquisition in Indian Air Force, which is of 141 pages, has 32 pages dedicated to the Rafale deal. The CAG has observed that the Rafale deal negotiated by the NDA government was cheaper than the UPA offer. The NDA deal was 2.86 per cent cheaper than the one negotiated the UPA government.

RAJYA SABHA PASSES INTERIM BUDGET WITHOUT DEBATE

The Rajya Sabha passed the Interim Budget and Finance Bill 2019-20 without a debate, the last day of the Budget session of Parliament.

The Interim Budget, Appropriation Bills and Finance Bill were passed by a voice vote in the Upper House after a broad consensus was arrived at among political parties to pass them without debate.

Minister of State for Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla moved that the Appropriation and Finance Bills be passed. Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu put the bills to vote, which were approved by voice vote and returned to the Lok Sabha.

Union Minister Arun Jaitley took to twitter on CAG Report. He wrote: "Satyameva Jayate" – the truth shall prevail. The CAG Report on Rafale reaffirms the dictum.
