Two-day BJP National Convention begins in New Delhi | | | New Delhi Jan 11 (Agencies) Two-day BJP National Convention began in New Delhi; Convention to discuss agenda for 2019 general elections; Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP Chief Amit Shah and over 12,000 delegates attending the meeting.
BJP workers from every Lok Sabha constituency are attending the meeting. MPs, MLAs, Parishad members, District In Charge, District Mahamantris and vistaraks will participate in the 2-day event. The emphasis will be on strengthening the presence of the party right from the grassroots level, and on taking the achievements of the Modi government to the people.
BJP President Amit Shah inaugurated the convention. Briefing media in New Delhi, party's youth wing president Poonam Mahajan said, around 12 thousand delegates from all parts of the country will attend the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the concluding session.
The national council assumes significance in view of the upcoming general elections this year and the meeting will deliberate on the party's strategy for the polls among other issues. The Narendra Modi government's social justice plank with its outreach to Dalits, backward classes and the general category is likely to be a key theme at the meeting.
The government's measures for farmers, various schemes for the welfare of the poor and economic growth will also be discussed. The meeting is expected to pass economic and political resolutions. | | | |
