| Kargil Courier service begins with airlifting of around 100 passengers | | | | JAMMU, JANUARY 11: Around 100 passengers were airlifted between Kargil and Jammu by the first flight of AN-32, Kargil Courier service of Indian Air Force which started here today.
Nearly, 52 passengers were airlifted in two sorties from Kargil to Jammu and 46 passengers from Jammu to Kargil.
Pertinently, during the road closure at Zojila, between Srinagar and Kargil in winters from January to May, the facility of airlifting passengers from the snowbound areas of Kargil to Jammu and Srinagar, is being provided by the State Government with the help of Air Force planes, which is called the AN-32 Kargil Courier Service. The Kargil Courier Service is scheduled to operate twice a week between Kargil-Jammu and thrice a week between Kargil-Srinagar.
The airlifted passengers appreciated Air Force authorities and district administration Kargil for this much needed service.
State Coordinator for Kargil Courier Service, Aamir Ali, has informed that the aircraft would operate two sorties between Kargil and Srinagar on 12th January, subject to fair weather. | | | | |
