Heavy rains lash Delhi/NCR bringing much awaited relief from heat | | | New Delhi 13 July(Agencies) An active monsoon has had a mixed impact across India. While some places are welcoming the respite in temperatures brought by monsoon showers, several cities are facing waterlogging after spells of abundant rainfall. The Met department has forecast heavy rain in several states over the next 48 hours.
Monsoon is in active mode these days in almost all parts of the country. While in some places its bringing relief from heat and humidity in others its poured peril and hardship.
Friday say heavy rains hitting the Delhi-NCR after a long wait bringing relief to people who till now sweating it out. Apart from the break from heat and humidity, the rains also brought with them water logging and traffic jams. Water overflowed at the Delhi Secretariat causing inconvenience to people.
GUJARAT
These are images from different cities in Gujarat where heavy rains threw life out of gear. In Surat, people got stuck in the Parvat Patiya locality due to a heavy downpour and at least 52 people have been rescued so far. In Tapi, a bridge collapsed and several trees were uprooted while in Navsari, heavy rains have led to a flood-like situation.
RAJASTHAN
Even in Rajasthan's Jhalawad, the impact of heavy rains was evident. It led to water logging in several places in both urban and rural areas.
PUNJAB
Heavy showers were witnessed in several Punjab and Haryana cities including Chandigarh. It brought relief from the heat but also affected normal life. The effect of an active monsoon was also visible in Ludhiana on Friday as several areas of the city got water logged. It also led to a wall collapse incident which took a toll of some parked vehicles, fortunately no one was hurt.
HIMACHAL PRADESH
It has also been coming down heavily in Himachal Pradesh. The Met dept has forecast heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours in Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, Chamba and Una districts of the state.
UTTAR PRADESH
The weather in Muradabad, Meerut, Kanpur and several other cities in Uttar Pradesh became pleasant after monsoon showers bringing much relief to people.
CHATTISGARH
The monsoon seems fairly active in Chhattisgarh with heavy rains in state capital Raipur on Friday. The downpour brought a smile in the faces of farmers in rural areas.
The Met dept has forecast more rain in the next 48 hours in Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka, South Karnataka, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, Odisha and many other places. | | | |
