6.1 quake in Japan's Osaka causes damage across the city

Japan 18 June(Agencies)
Three people were killed on Monday after walls collapsed in a magnitude-6.1 earthquake that hit Osaka, western Japan.

The earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 hit western Japan early in the morning.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in the northern part of Osaka Prefecture, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, and no tsunami warning was issued.

Videos posted on social media showed flooding on the road from burst water pipes and broken bottles on the floor of a shop right after the quake hit Japan's second-biggest city just before 8 a.m. (2300 GMT Sunday).

Kansai Electric Power said there were no irregularities at any of the nuclear plants in the region after the quake, but there were more than 1,70,000 households without power in Osaka and neighboring Hyogo Prefecture.
