Police constable, sister injured in firing by militants in Shopian
 
Srinagar, June 14 (Agencies): A police constable and his sister were injured after fired upon by militants at Katho Hallan area of Kellar in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday evening.

Official sources said that the gunmen fired upon the SPO, Rayees Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Hassan after barging inside his home at Katho Hallan village this evening.

In the incident, Lone along with his minor sister Urfi Jan suffered bullet wounds and were shifted to the nearby district hospital where from Lone was referred to Srinagar hospital in critical conditions, they said. His sister has suffered injuries in leg and her condition is stated to be stable.

Sources said that Lone was recently promoted from SPO to police constable and is presently posted at DPL Shopian.

SSP Shopian Shailendra Mishra also confirmed the incident to local press.

“Lone was shot at by the militants after they barged inside their home. He is working as a constable,” SSP said.

Meanwhile, government forces cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the assailants
